Bamboo Jersey

What is Bamboo Jersey?

Bamboo Jersey, a fabric also known as bamboo viscose is a natural textile made from extracting the fibres of bamboo pulp, which is then spun and combed into yarn and cloth. All our bamboo jersey products are made of 95% Bamboo, 5% Spandex, with a fabric weight of 220gsm.

What are the benefits of Bamboo Jersey?

Bamboo Fabric is one of the most eco-friendly materials if made right. It also offers soft, strong, durable, hypoallergenic advantages, is extra-absorbent, naturally antibacterial, and thermo-regulating.

Soft and Strong: Bamboo fabric is luxuriously soft and has a very smooth texture, making it one of the most desirable products for your baby’s delicate skin. The added advantage of this is that it is also one of the most robust fabrics available. When cared for properly, bamboo fabric is more durable and will hold its shape and colour longer, even after multiple washes.

Antibacterial, Odour Free, and Hypoallergenic: All of these properties occur naturally in the bamboo plant thanks to an anti-bacterial bio-agent called Bamboo Kun in the plant, which allows it to flourish and grow in the wild without needing pesticides naturally. Even after the plant is converted into its textile form, it's anti-bacterial properties remain. Clothes free from bacteria mean the textile will be hygienic and odour-free, even when used for longer periods.

Another quality is that the fabric is hypoallergenic, thus making it an excellent choice for babies with sensitive skin who are prone to experiencing allergic reactions to other natural fibres.

Thermo-regulating: One of the things that babies have trouble with is thermoregulation. Their bodies are still learning to cope with the world, and it is important to keep your baby warm. Bamboo fabric is breathable and has thermo-regulating properties. Because of this, it can help your baby stay warm on a cold night while also keeping them cool on a hot day.

Extra Absorbent: Bamboo fabric is about 40% more absorbent than the finest organic cotton. The fabric can absorb three times its weight in water when it comes to moisture absorption. This helps in wicking away moisture from your baby’s skin, helping them stay cool through hot days.

Eco-Friendly: Bamboo is amongst the most eco-friendly and sustainable materials to grow. When compared to cotton, it requires 30% less water. Other qualities include being biodegradable, not needing fertilisers or pesticides, absorbing more carbon dioxide from the air, and providing an abundance of oxygen when grown. From a sustainability standpoint, it is more eco-friendly to grow than cotton and is one of the fastest-growing plants.

What is OEKO-TEX® ?

The OEKO-TEX® label is the most comprehensive label used globally to certify that the textile used in baby and toddler garments is healthy and free from harmful substances. Our bamboo products are made of fabrics that are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.

Cocoon Sleep Bag

What is a Cocoon Sleep Bag?

The Cocoon Sleep Bag, also known as a sleep sack or a baby sleeping bag, is designed for safe sleeping while providing the utmost comfort for your baby.

Loose swaddles and blankets can lead to blanket tangling or overheating, posing a sleep risk. Just like a cocoon, our sleep bag envelopes your baby in a secure, comforting way, and gives your little ones a snug feeling to help them sleep easily on their own, safely, throughout the night.

We chose a baby-soft, gentle and hypoallergenic fabric - bamboo jersey. Its ultra breathable and temperature regulating features assure that your baby stays cool in the heat, or warm in the cold once cocooned, keeping them incredibly comfortable as they sleep through the night

Are Sleep Bags aka Sleep Sacks a safer option than swaddles?

Most often, parents will choose to use a swaddle with their newborns. It is believed that newborns sleep so well in a swaddle because it reminds them of the snugness of the womb.

However, once a baby shows signs of rolling over on their own (which can be as early as two months), the swaddle is no longer the safest option. This is because if an infant rolls onto their stomach and is unable to use their arms to roll back, it increases the risk of suffocation. This is where sleep bags or sleep sacks come in handy.

Most parents start using sleep bags after their little ones have started to transition from the swaddle. Sleep bags allow your little one to move their arms and legs more freely while still somewhat restricting their mobility.

Sleep bags are also great for making sure babies stay warm while keeping loose blankets out of the crib to reduce the risk of suffocation and sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS.

As your baby grows into toddlerhood, sleep bags are still considered a safe and practical option.

When should you stop using sleep bags?

Your baby’s comfort level with the sleep sack will play a role in how long they wear it. Some babies love the security of a wearable blanket and want to wear it as long as possible. Others, with their new found mobility, will be constantly trying to break free. If your baby is starting to seem uncomfortable in the sleep sack or fights putting it on in the first place, it might be time to consider transitioning to something else.

You’ll also want to look at it from a safety point of view. The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends against using loose blankets in your child’s crib for the first year. With this in mind, many parents tend to use sleep sacks up at least until their child’s first birthday and some use it well into toddlerhood.

How do I know if my sleep bag is too tight or too loose?

A well fitting sleep bag should not be too loose, particularly around the neckline and arm holes. A sleep bag should fit snugly, otherwise the baby could get lost in it as they wiggle. 2 fingers should fit between the bag and your baby's chest. The sleep bag should also be loose around the hips. Your baby’s legs and hips should be able to bend and move comfortably. If your baby is sweating, he or she is too warm. You need to remove the sleep bag.

What do babies wear under a sleep sack?

Under the Cocoon Sleep Bag, you can dress your baby in a short sleeve onesie, a long sleeve onesie, or a sleep suit, depending on your room temperature and baby’s temperature. Our Cocoon Sleep Bag is thin and breathable, with a 0.5 TOG rating.  When checking your baby's temperature, their tummy and chest should feel warm and dry, not sweaty or cold.

What temperature is your sleep bag suitable for?

TOG stands for Thermal Overall Guide and the rating determines the thickness of the garment and how comfortably warm it keeps your little one. Our Cocoon Sleep Sacks have a 0.5 TOG rating and are suitable for wear with a sleep suit for room temperatures between 21-23°C, or a onesie for room temperatures between 24-27°C.

Solvent-Free Leather

What is Solvent-Free Vegan Leather?

Our Vegan leather is made of water-based, solvent-free PU leather, a synthetic leather made of waterborne polyurethane and does not contain toxic organic solvents.  It is the latest replacement product of traditional solvent-based synthetic leather and a product that conforms to the sustainable development of the world.

Our vegan leather combines the feel of genuine leather and the convenience of faux.

Is Solvent-Free Vegan Leather better?

Here’s why we think our Vegan Leather is great:

It feels luxurious, buttery soft and plush

Our vegan leather is softer than regular PU leather without the indentation and rough grains of regular playmats, gentle on the skin, and soft enough for babies to rest their heads on.

It is non-toxic and harmless to Baby

The materials used and manufacturing processes produce zero VOCs and toxins. Our vegan leather is SGS reach 211 SVHC certified safe for infants and children, free from 211 harmful substances, and contains no PVC.

The production process of our vegan leather is harmless to the environment

The manufacturing process of water-based PU leather has low energy consumption in the production process and has no toxic and harmful waste-gas or waste-water discharge. Therefore, water-based PU leather can fully meet the highest international environmental protection requirements for synthetic leather.

Raw Materials are ethically and responsibly made

The raw materials used to produce our vegan leather are non-toxic and harmless to production personnel, as it contains no VOCs, zero DMF, zero formaldehyde, and zero toluene.

Our vegan leather is formulated to be hardy and durable

Water-based PU leather is thicker and hardier than the standard PU leather or TPU mats in the market - it does not flake, has high peeling resistance, high folding resistance, and high abrasion resistance.

Fully wipeable - Stain-resistant & Water-Resistant

Spills? No problem, it wipes clean easily. Vegan leather can get wet but it is not meant to be hosed down or left to soak for a prolonged time due to the quilted stitching.

Do your vegan leather products crease?

Vegan leather does crease. The creases will relax over time with use, but will reappear if the mat is folded to store. Creases are a characteristic of vegan leather and not a defect.

How do I care for my Vegan Leather products?

Surface Clean only.

Do not scrub.

Do not machine wash, iron, bleach or dry clean.

Do NOT use harsh detergents, citrus, alcohol, bleach or abrasive cleaners (such as Jif) as they may damage the surface of the mat.

Ensure the mat is dry before storing.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight

Our vegan leather is stain-resistant but not stain-proof so avoid permanent markers/pens, acrylic paints or anything with a heavy dye. Be careful with some mineral sunscreens as these may stain. Quickly clean any marks by wiping with a baby wipe, paper towel or a damp cloth and mild soap.

Do you have a warranty for your vegan leather products?

Yes, all Ted & Luna’s vegan leather products come with a ONE YEAR WARRANTY against Defects In Materials and Workmanship.

If there's any manufacturing fault on the mat, we require you to notify us and disclose this as soon as possible within 14 days of receiving the product, so we can rectify the issue.
